It’s official - the AVIXA Women’s Council is now 10 chapters strong and growing! On the evening of January 25th, women from various organizations within the AV industry gathered at McKinstry in Seattle to kick off the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Council. Organized by Debbie Williamson, President of Tempest Technologies and Lauren Yockman, AV Business Unit Manager at McKinstry, the inaugural event was a huge success and plans for the next function are already underway!

Over wine and hors d’oeuvres, the ladies in attendance had an opportunity to introduce themselves to one another, share a little about their background in the industry and discuss what they are currently involved in. Then, after a few opening words by Lauren and Debbie, AVIXA Board Member Laura Moorhead, VP of Sales at Blue Sky / Neurilink, shared some details on the reason for the transformation from Infocomm to AVIXA and how the organization is working to support woman in the industry. Guest speaker Heather Picken then took the stage to talk about her latest bestselling book called The La Dolce Vita Formula. Heather is a vibrant and enthusiastic business coach, author, and TV host, who through her experiences while living in Italy, developed a formula to overcome the many obstacles and fears that she was facing. Her inspirational presentation focused on how any one of us can use her formula to overcome our own personal fears to become “Fearless and Fabulous” in all areas of our life.

Amazingly, the first event had women joining us from Washington, Oregon and Idaho! Debbie and Lauren are hoping that interest in the group will grow to a point that instead of having one large PNW Chapter, there will be Chapters in each of those states so more women have access to the group! Tempest Technologies was well represented with ladies from both our Issaquah headquarters and Portland branch office in attendance.

After such a successful and engaging inaugural event, we are eagerly working to plan the next gathering, so keep your eye on your inbox for more information!
